PSA

Christ Church School Parent Staff Association

The Christ Church PSA is a charity organisation which has been in place for many years to raise crucial finds to advance the education and wellbeing of the children who attend the school.  We work in partnership with the school, parents and carers to decide on the areas requiring investment, and then organise fundraising and social events to generate the funds to support these projects.

Who is a Member?

As a parent or carer at Christ Church you are automatically a member of the PSA - and the good news is there's no paperwork, you're already in!

Christ Church PSA has a Committee that is elected each year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to represent all parents. Get to know a committee member and make your voice heard. We welcome fresh ideas and enthusiasm!

Our AGM's happen every term and the details will be published in the School newsletter.  This is a fantastic opportunity to come along and hear updates of fundraising, the project plans for the funding, opportunities within the Committee as well as share ideas for future events.

Members of the Committee are:

  • Chair: Emma Barley
  • Treasurer: John Cranwell
  • Secretary: Caroline Egan and Ashley Colven
  • Event Organisers:
    • Amy Harris
    • Angela Barnes
    • Caroline Brunton
    • Rebecca Walker

What events are organised?

Every year we hold a very popular Summer BBQ and Christmas Market. We have also organised events for children including Discos, Cinema Nights and Easter Egg Hunts. Events for parents have included Ladies Pamper Evenings, Quiz Nights and a Wine Tasting. We also provide refreshments at School Church Services.

What is the money used for?

As well as one key project per year, key contributions from the Christ Church PSA include an annual donation for classroom supplies, a termly donation to purchase new library books, theatre trips and playground enhancements, as well as ongoing maintenance and updating of equipment within the classrooms and grounds.

As you move around the school, you will see the impact of your donations - in recent years we have provided new play equipment for the front playground, exercise and play equipment on the field, a nature area and infamous red 'Daily Mile' track which our children use and love every single day.  Inside the school, we have purchased new iPads for the ICT room, equipment for Charanga (the popular music scheme) and play equipment for the Nursery.  We also subsidise theatre trips, music programs and provide autograph books for Year 6 children as they leave the school.

How do I know what’s going on?

Our key events will be included in the weekly newsletter from school as they are coming up. There are also PSA Notice boards next to the office window and outside the nursery. We publish a PSA Newsletter periodically and post to the Christ Church School PSA group on Facebook.

How can I help?

There are two ways you can support the PSA, with time and/or donations!  Our team work hard to deliver fun events for children, parents and carers to enjoy.  Purchasing tickets to these events and joining in helps us grow our parent community and adds vital funds to the pot.

If you have a little extra time (or perhaps a volunteering scheme at work) you can opt for a regular spot on the Committee and join us in the running of the charity or take on the organisation of one of our events.  We're always looking for people to help on an ad-hoc basis so if your time is limited but if you can spare a few hours here and there, you could volunteer to help at the events themselves.  We'll publish a list of the ad hoc volunteers we need in the run up to the events so do keep an eye out.

Easy Fundraising

An easy way to help fundraising is to buy online goods via 'Easy Fundraising'.  It doesn't cost you anything, you can access all your usual favourite shopping sites, but the PSA is paid for every hit!

If you buy your school name tags (iron on and stickers) for clothes and belongings from My Nametags, please quote school ID 27937.  My Nametags will donate some of their profits to the PSA.
